SOME JOURNALISTS ARE NOT FAIR TO ARSENAL SOMETIMES.

Ben White blasted over Arsenal transfer and told “he’s better than that, Former defender Danny Mills has questioned the decision of Brighton defender and England international to join Arsenal this summer. The pundit believes that White “is better than that” and expressed his surprise that he has opted to go to the Emirates rather than joining a club like Manchester United. A report from Sky Sports outlines that the 23-year-old wants to join the North London club this summer after the Seagulls turned down two separate bids for the player. Brighton are said to have rejected approaches of £40million and £47million for the defender, with reports now suggesting that a £50million agreement is in place for a deal. White is said to have agreed terms on a five-year contract with Mikel Arteta’s side with a move appearing to be edging closer. Former England international Mills has expressed his surprise at the move and he believes that White should have been aiming higher than for a move to Arsenal. The Gunners have missed out on European qualification for the first time in 25 years and finished last season trophyless with big changes expected this summer. The arrival of White would be somewhat of a statement signing, although the agreed fee is one that the Seagulls will no doubt be delighted with. Mills explained on talkSPORT: “The only thing I am surprised at is Ben White has gone to Arsenal. Let’s assume that he will be at Arsenal for two or three years at least before he goes somewhere else. I just think he is better than that.” The former defender was then pressed on why he was surprised about the player’s move to the Gunners and he added: “Because he has got better chance of winning things. What is he going to win at Arsenal? League Cup, if he is lucky. Maybe the FA Cup. “I think he is an exceptional player and I think he is a fantastic signing for Arsenal. I am just a little bit surprised that Manchester United, who are looking for a centre-half, haven’t come in for him.” White was part of Gareth Southgate’s England squad for Euro 2020 but did not feature throughout the tournament as he was behind Harry Maguire, John Stones and Tyrone Mings in the pecking order. He made his international debut in June as he featured in both of England’s warm-up matches for the tournament against Austria and Romania. Having represented Newport County and Peterborough United in previous loan spells, White came to prominence on loan at Leeds United in the 2019/20 campaign – playing every Championship game as the club won promotion. White then made 39 first-team appearances for Brighton last season and impressed in his first campaign as a Premier League player.

WHY RONALDO NOW IS SELL?.

Former Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri reportedly advised patron Andrea Agnelli to ‘get rid of’ Cristiano Ronaldo. ‘He’s blocking the growth of the team’. La Repubblica claims Allegri left a piece of advice to the President before he was sent away. “Get rid of Ronaldo, he’s blocking the growth of the team and the club,” the former coach told the patron. Juventus has won eight Scudetti in a row and Ronaldo was aiming to add to his already five Champions League trophies between Manchester United and Real Madrid. But the report claims the scenario has changed from being ‘the deal of the century’ for Juventus to almost become ‘a prisoner’ of their star. Ronaldo’s deal expires in 2022, but Calciomercato.com reports the forward will meet with the club after the season to discuss the future. Juventus are, according to the outlet, ready to say farewell to the Portuguese star, but there are a couple of aspects to consider. There are no concrete offers and there’s a problem with taxes. The report reveals that if Ronaldo leaves Turin, he would be forced to give up the fiscal benefits that only Italy can offer.

MARTIN ODEGAARD JERSEY NUMBER ISSUES AT ARSENAL..

Martin Odegaard is set to complete his Arsenal loan move – and it appears he will wear the No.11 shirt. The Norwegian youngster, 22, is on the brink of completing his loan move from Real Madrid until the end of the season. With Mesut Ozil leaving for Fenerbahce, Odegaard has been identified by Mikel Arteta and Edu as the man to add more creative cover after the emergence of Emile Smith Rowe. Odegaard was widely expected to take Ozil’s No.10 shirt, left vacant after he departed earlier this month. But footage shared on social media by a fan in Kuwait showed Odegaard listed as the new No.11 on the store section of Arsenal’s website. The No.11 shirt, worn by Ozil when he first arrived at Arsenal before he took the No.10 after Jack Wilshere’s departure, has been vacant this season since Lucas Torreira left for Atletico Madrid. The number is still free and looks like being taken by Odegaard, who Arsenal fans hope will make a major impact over the remainder of the campaign. Manager Arteta confirmed a deal was in the process of being completed after his side beat Southampton on Tuesday night. “I think we are pretty close, but it is not finalised,” Arteta told reporters after the game. “As I am standing here I have not talked to Edu or the club in the last three hours, but we are very positive that we can finalise the deal.” Whilst academy graduate Smith Rowe has emerged as a star for Arsenal in recent weeks, Rio Ferdinand believes competition will be a healthy addition to the Arsenal squad. He told BT Sport: “Competition’s healthy and young players need the competition but you don’t want players coming in and stunting the growth of certain young players there. “Especially ones that have just come into the team and starting to show good form.

WHY MORATA MADE PIRLO ANGRY.

Juventus need more concentration to win games. “We played against a strong team, with great rhythm, but on that floor we played on par with them,” Pirlo told Sky Sport after Juventus’ 1-1 draw against Atalanta. “We must win those games where we need to make a step forward. Instead, we have sinned a little ‘lightness in some cases and we could not win the game. We must take these games home with a little more wickedness and concentration.” Cristiano Ronaldo missed a penalty in the first half. “It’s a pity because it would have helped us to go ahead, but these things can happen,” Pirlo said. Juventus have only kept one clean sheet in the last nine games. “On Sunday we conceded a goal from the only shot we had against. It’s not about goals, it’s about how we face the games. We had many chances to take the lead, we are improving, this game was important in terms of intensity.” Dejan Kulusevski remained on the bench for 90 minutes. “He is a young player, he’s played a lot so far. He’s made big steps but he is more suitable for some games and less suitable for others. This wasn’t a game for him, there were aggressive defenders and we needed to play vertically.” Paulo Dybala came in for the last 10 minutes but La Joya had made people talk last weekend, including Juventus’ president Andrea Agnelli, with his statements about his contract extension. “The club is in charge of these matters. I train all the players and I only think to train him on the pitch.” How did it react to Alvaro Morata’s miss in the first half? “It made me very angry, it’s something we can not afford, these opportunities can channel the game in a certain way,” Pirlo said at a press conference. “One must have the lucidity to make the right choice and he didn’t. Aside from that he made a great game, it happens not to score goals sometimes.”

BEST CENTRAL IN THE HISTORY OF MADRID.

In December, in the absence of regular Ballon d’Or voting, a decision will be made on the best XI in the history of football, and with Sergio Ramos one of the favourites to be named as the best central defender in history, we’re asking whether that is the case? The final decision depends on the 170 correspondents who are given the responsibility of voting, although it’s worth noting that Ramos has been centric to one of Real Madrid’s most successful ever eras.  France Football will present the results in December, although it’s likely that Ramos’ achievements will sway the vote, rather than merely his defensive abilities. His headed goal against Inter was his 100th for Los Blancos, which is staggeringly high for a defender, although you’d be hard-pressed to find someone who would argue they would rather have Ramos in their team over Paolo Maldini for example. In the Champions League, Ramos has scored 14 goals, two of which came in finals against Atletico Madrid in both Lisbon and Milan. Over the course of his career at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, he has played 659 competitive matches, winning 22 trophies including four Champions League. In that period, he has also won trophies at international level, with Spain taking the 2010 World Cup and the European Championships in both 2008 and 2012. Ramos has scored in 11 different Champions League editions, something that only Raul and Karim Benzema have managed for Real Madrid. Giorgio Chiellini described him as the ‘best defender in the world’ earlier in 2020, whilst there are those that hold him personally responsible for injuring Mohamed Salah in the Kiev Champions League final. Ramos doesn’t contemplate a future away from Los Merengues at this time, he wants to retire in the famous white shirt, although the reality is that his contract expires in June and there hasn’t yet been any indication a new one is close to being signed. Zinedine Zidane takes for granted that he will be able to count on Ramos in the 2021/22 season, however this is a player that at 34 years old wouldn’t be short of high quality offers.

SO CAN CAVANI HELP MAN UNITED TO THE PROMISE LAND?

OFFICIAL: Man Utd complete free transfer of Edinson Cavani, Manchester United have completed the signing of Edinson Cavani on a free transfer as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer leaves it late to bolster his squad ahead of the transfer deadline.  As Sportsmail revealed first, talks advanced quickly on Saturday and the Uruguay international striker completed a medical on Sunday. The 33-year-old has put pen to paper on a two-year deal on wages of around £210,000-per-week after tax.

IS PARTY TIME FOR ARSENAL.

OFFICIAL: Arsenal complete the signing of Thomas Partey Atletico Madrid were left stunned by developments on Monday, despite the fact the Gunners had been linked with a switch for the Ghanaian midfielder since the beginning of the window. The player’s lawyers arrived at LaLiga headquarters on Monday afternoon to complete the formalities of the deal, although his representative was then required to be present which came later in the evening. Diego Simeone has been left without one of his most dependable midfielders, and Los Colchoneros are believed to be frustrated by the lack of notice given by Arsenal that this was going to happen, especially after being in close contact with them in recent days to secure Lucas Torreira’s loan. Issues regarding a contract extension at the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano first alerted Arsenal to Partey’s potential availability, although his current deal in Madrid was due to expire in June 2023. Partey repeatedly rejected Los Colchoneros’ proposals as he felt they didn’t value him highly enough, although initially he had hoped to stay with the club who gave him his chance in Europe. Interestingly, and a key part of this situation, is the fact that despite being one of the most used players by Simeone in terms of minutes on the pitch, he was at the very lower end of the club’s payroll in terms of senior players. Juventus and Arsenal had been interested all summer, but it seemed as though neither were willing to pay the full 50 million euros required to prise Partey out of the Spanish capital. This attitude filtered through to the player as well, who had resigned himself to focusing on the 2020/21 season with the Spanish giants irrespective of his dispute with the hierarchy behind the scenes, however Arsenal’s huge effort on deadline day made this deal a reality.

DNA LUIS SUAREZ JUVENTUS.

Braida believes the Uruguayan will fit right in. Braida, formerly a member of Barcelona’s technical commission, isn’t surprised that Suarez is being moved on, yet he believes the striker still has more in the tank. “I’m not surprised about his Barcelona exit because football is about cycles,” he told Tuttosport. “Even Cristiano Ronaldo left Real Madrid because he felt his time there was over. “Suarez is a fighter and his battling spirit infects the rest of his teams. “He has character and the DNA to play for Juventus and other big clubs. “If he is motivated, he’ll be a strong signing even at 33 years of age.” Braida went on to state that he believes Suarez and Ronaldo can form a deadly partnership. “He won’t have problems playing with Ronaldo,” Braida said. “They’ll understand each other perfectly because they’re two natural winners
